Inspect software inventory and remove an application
Find reported applications, compare versions across devices, and select only eligible endpoints for an uninstall request.
Before you start
- Devices must have reported software inventory.
- Use Pull inventory on a device when you need a fresh agent-side collection.
Screenshots show the Rapport interface with example data. Use your organization’s devices and values. Select an image to view it at full size.
Find the reported application
Open Software and search by application name or publisher. Choose a platform and use Hide system apps to control whether operating-system components are shown. Refresh the inventory view when needed, and read its coverage notices.
What you should see: You have identified a particular application on a particular platform.
Open its version and device details
Open an application row. The detail panel shows Versions and Devices. Click a known version or use Filter devices by version to focus on an outdated release; choose All versions to return to the full device list.
Inspect devices before selecting removal
Follow device links when you need ownership or application context. In the detail panel, select only the eligible devices from which you intend to remove the application. The header checkbox selects targetable devices in the current view, and the selection count shows the resulting scope.
What you should see: The removal target is explicit and can be limited to a particular reported version.
Review and submit the uninstall request
Choose Uninstall… or the detail panel’s uninstall action. Review the application identity, selected device count, and the approval explanation in the confirmation dialog. Complete any required acknowledgement and MFA check, then confirm the uninstall.
Manage software from one device
For device-specific work, open the endpoint’s Software tab. Use Search software, Has CVEs only, and Hide system apps when present. Choose Install software to pick an available catalog application for that device. Select eligible installed rows and use Uninstall… for a reviewed removal; Clear resets that selection.
What you should see: The operation is scoped to the current device instead of an application’s fleet-wide device list.
Verify execution and refresh the inventory
Follow the request in the device Commands tab or its operational activity and complete any approval. After execution, collect fresh inventory if necessary and return to the software list. A stale inventory row may remain until the agent reports a new collection.
What you should see: The command result and later application presence or absence can both be checked.
If something doesn’t work
An application is missing.
Clear name/platform filters and disable Hide system apps. Check whether the device has reported software inventory, then request Pull inventory if needed.
A device checkbox is disabled.
Read the displayed reason. System components and other ineligible inventory entries cannot be targeted through this uninstall flow.
The application is still listed after an uninstall.
First inspect the command result, then refresh the agent’s software inventory. The list reflects reported inventory, not a live process or filesystem query.
